The parade finally descends upon us. The streets fill with cheers, marching bands, floats, anything and everything you would expect from a huge, moving street carnival.

We walk about a half mile and we’re at Lee Circle on St, Charles. A massive statue stands in the center of the road, forcing the street into a circle, hence the name. The stature has 5 stairs, each about 5 feet high. We know that’s the place to watch the parade, it’s calling our names. We climb to the top where we are well above the crowd, and await the parade at the feet of General Lee.

We make our way back to St. Charles. The parade isn’t there yet, so we take advantage of the situation and walk through the middle of the street and parade route towards the parade, trying to shorten the amount of time we’ll have to wait fot the parade to make it to where we are waiting.

It’s almost time for the parade to hit us, three hours after it started (we learned from yesterday how slow these things move).
